Shelter & Sleeping Bags

Shelter and sleeping bags may be needed during and after an emergency to stay dry and warm. You should always make sure you have at least some sleeping bags.

Either by choice of enjoying the great outdoors or the necessity of leaving your home because of emergency, you may need shelter to keep the elements out and warmth in.

Modern camping tents are very lightweight and can pack into a small bag to be trekked just about anywhere.

Sleeping bags are also more lightweight and warmer. It is not a bad idea to have a sleeping bag or two readily available in case of emergencies. I live north where winter driving can be a bit hairy at times so I keep a sleeping bag or emergency blanket in my vehicle during the winter months.

If you are in the market for a sleeping bag, make sure you get one that will provide adequate warmth. All sleeping bags are not created equal. Make sure the sleeping bag is rated for the temperature that you are going to be exposed to. Sleeping bags that are rated for colder weather tend to be more expensive but you will be glad for it on a cold night.
